A behind-the-scenes featurette for Mr. Mercedes has Stephen King discuss the television adaptation of his thriller as it moves to Peacock.
In a new behind-the-scenes featurette, author Stephen King discusses the television adaptation of his bestselling thriller, starring Brendan Gleeson as retired detective Bill Hodges. King praised the work done by the series’ cast and crew while observing that its arrival on the new streaming service makes it “a pretty nice Halloween treat.”
Based on a trilogy of crime novels penned by King, Mr. Mercedes sees Hodges taunted by a serial killer responsible for murdering sixteen people with his eponymous luxury car before his retirement. Intent on making a name for himself, the killer begins to increase his body count as he draws Hodges out of retirement for a deadly game of cat-and-mouse.
The adaptation premiered on the Audience Network in 2017, running for three seasons before Audience was shuttered by AT&T this past May ahead of the launch of its premium streaming service, HBO Max. There has been no announcement about the third season coming to Peacock nor for a fourth season of the show.
Based on a trilogy of crime novels written by Stephen King, Mr. Mercedes stars Brendan Gleeson, Harry Treadaway, Jharrel Jerome, Mary-Louise Parker and Holland Taylor. The first two seasons arrive on Peacock Oct. 15.
